A slice moonlight broke through the clouds and hit the peak of Mt. Ranier.

I didn't meet Dwight until I was in college, through Katie. It was at an IHOP after she and Dwight went to a Ben Fold's Five concert with her recent ex-boyfriend Chip. When he found out Katie was now dating me, a beaner, he went ape-llistic. He was a douchebag. I dressed like a cholo to fuck with with him. Despite the fact that I grew up in surburbia and have the Spanish language skills of a 9th grader, I've always referred to myself as Mexican. As they ate pancakes I did my best Cheech impersonation. Katie was totally embarassed but Dwight crowned me king shit of fuck mountain (thank you, Mr. Show).

Dwight and I remained tight throughout my tulmultuous five year realtionship with Katie. When I started acting he checked out every show I was in no matter how small my part or how shitty the script. He thought it was awesome when I joined an improv comedy troupe called The Sons of Abe Vigoda that preformed in a dark and smoky, shoe box of a comedy club called Sweetchuck's located downtown on 6th Street. Dwight was well liked by the troupe for providing irreverant and usually 80s pop culture oriented suggestions. The other comics refered to him as the 5th Vigoda.

When Katie killed herself Dwight was the only person I could stand to be around. He told me that nothing anyone was going to say was going to make me feel any better and that I should embrace the anger for as long as I needed it. He knew, his mom.

My last year or so in Austin I didn't see Dwight so much. I'd dropped out of performing and spent a lot of time smoking weed and watching movies on my couch. He had taken to leaving town for weeks at a time. I'd get post cards from all over the US and some from Mexico and Canada. He'd never write about what he was doing in these places.

I cracked the window to let out a fart.

"Dude, did something die in there?"

Mongo waved his arms like he was on fire.

"I think it was that slice we ate before we left."

Mongo rolled down his window and stuck his head into night air. He let out a howl. He'd been tense the whole drive.
