Flora made a press pot after she'd gotten a hold of Guy and he said he'd be over in half an hour. That was an hour ago. She topped her cup off.
"So he just appeared?"
"I went outside and he was there."
Despite the fact that it had been months since they last spoke, a random run-in at a bar, there was still a looming familiarity between them.
"Were you smoking?"
"I bummed it, first one in a while."
"Right."
"Seriously."
Guy re-examined the note that Gary had given to Flora.
"Have you tried tugging at the horn?"
"A little, I didn't want to hurt him."
Gary was in the corner of the yard checking out a pile of scrap wood by the fence. Flora had meant to get rid of it. Guy opened the screen door and stepped out into the backyard.
"I gonna give him a once over."
Gary hopped over the five foot, wooden, back fence and into the grassy alley.
"Holy shit, did you see him clear that fence?"
Flora hastily put her coffee on the table and spilled it. She decided she didn't care and ran after guy into the back yard.
