Part 13

In the wide swift river the water is cold. I don't know how long it took me to swim across but it was longer than I'd wanted. I have no idea how far down I traveled either. I know a passed a set a of house boats.

As the moon rose I clung to the shore, as if the water wanted me back. I shivered, wanting warmth and rest. I felt myself slipping. I saw a small light in the distance bobbing around and slowly growing larger. Then I heard his voice.

"You look like shit, son."
